LakeFest Oakland, founded in 2018 in Oakland, CA, celebrates the rich culture and diversity that make the city unique. Created by Oakland natives and operated by a dedicated team of Bay Area residents, LakeFest has grown into one of the largest cultural celebrations in Oakland.
Founder Trevel Adanandus self-funded the festival after recognizing a need to revive the vibrant spirit of Lake Merritt, once home to the beloved Festival at the Lake in the ’80s and ’90s. With a deep love for his community, Trevel envisioned an event that brings together local vendors, talented artists, and the unmatched energy of Oakland on the hottest day of summer.
LakeFest is more than just a festival; it’s a heartfelt tribute to Oakland’s history, creativity, and resilience. In recognition of its impact, former Mayor Libby Schaaf officially declared June 21st as LakeFest Day in Oakland.

A year ago, Lou Béraud, a Parisian who came to Oakland, fell in love, and bet everything on Piedmont Avenue, opened La Loulou with her husband Peter, who built the space by hand. One year later, Lou & Peter have brought Paris to Oakland, and the village they dreamed of is real. A space where, as the French say, il fait bon vivre (life feels good).
